What are the engine options for the 2018 Jeep Cherokee?

There are two engines available for the 2018 Jeep Cherokee, the base engine being the 2.4-liter Tigershark 4-cylinder which produces 184 horsepower and 171 pound-feet of torque. This engine on FWD city is 21 mpg, FWD highway 30 mpg. On the 4WD Active Drive I city it is 21 mpg, highway 28 mpg. The 4WD Active Drive city brings it to 21 mpg, while the highway gives 27 mpg. Finally, the 4WD Trailhawk city produces 19 mpg, with the highway producing 25 mpg. The second engine option is standard on the Overland 4x4, and can be made optional for all of the other trim models. This engine is a 3.2-liter V6, which creates 271 horsepower and 239 pound-feet of torque. The fuel economy in FWD in the city is 21 mpg, and on the highway it is 29 mpg. In the 4WD Active Drive I city the miles per gallon is 20, and on the highway it is 27 mpg. 4WD active Drive II brings the city mpg to 18, and the highway miles per gallon to 26. The final driving option, 4WD Trailhawk, puts out 18 mpg in the city, and 24 mpg on the highway. Both engines come standard with a nine-speed automatic transmission, the major difference being either FWD or 4WD. With the 4WD there are three different options to choose from, Jeep Active Drive I is the base system, giving a single-speed transfer case. The second is Active Drive II, which is a 2-speed transfer case. The final one can only be used with the Trailhawk, and additionally adds the Selec-Terrain system. The 2018 Jeep Cherokee with the 4-cylinder engine can tow up to 2,000 pounds, and the V6 engine can tow up to 4,500.

The next trim level is more for the off-roader in the form of the Trailhawk which comes standard with AWD, bigger all-terrain tires, more clearance from the ground, unique trim on the exterior, both cloth and leather upholstery, the same large touchscreen interface as the Latitude Plus, and skid plates. A few other features include rear cross-traffic detection, sensors for parking, automatic climate control in dual-zones, and blind-spot monitoring. The Limited, the second to last trim level, has some similarities to the Trailhawk but adds an additional remote ignition, leather upholstery, heated seats for the front two passengers, de-icer for the wiper, heated steering wheel, blind-spot monitoring, power liftgate, and parking sensors. The final trim is the Overland, with exterior trim that has a unique body-color, windshield and front windows that are sound-deadening, memory functions for the driver's seat, an instrument panel surrounded in leather, ventilated front seats, nine-speaker audio system, and of course, a navigation system and radio. With the rear seats folded in the Jeep Cherokee there is 54.9 cubic feet of space, and additional space can be created by folding down the passenger seat in Latitude Plus trims or higher.
